Maryam 19:9

يَـٰزَكَرِيَّآ إِنَّا نُبَشِّرُكَ بِغُلَـٰمٍ ٱسْمُهُۥ يَحْيَىٰ لَمْ نَجْعَل لَّهُۥ مِن قَبْلُ سَمِيًّا

19:7 — [He was told], "O Zechariah, indeed We give you good tidings of a boy whose name will be John. We have not assigned to any before [this] name."

قَالَ رَبِّ أَنَّىٰ يَكُونُ لِى غُلَـٰمٌ وَكَانَتِ ٱمْرَأَتِى عَاقِرًا وَقَدْ بَلَغْتُ مِنَ ٱلْكِبَرِ عِتِيًّا

19:8 — He said, "My Lord, how will I have a boy when my wife has been barren and I have reached extreme old age?"

قَالَ كَذَٰلِكَ قَالَ رَبُّكَ هُوَ عَلَىَّ هَيِّنٌ وَقَدْ خَلَقْتُكَ مِن قَبْلُ وَلَمْ تَكُ شَيْـًٔا

Ahmed Ali

(The angel) answered: "Thus will it be. Your Lord said: 'This is easy for Me; for when I brought you into being you were nothing.'

Ahmed Raza Khan

He (the angel) said, “So it is; your Lord says, ‘This is easy for Me – in fact I created you before this, at a time when you did not exist.’”

Arberry

Said He, 'So it shall be; thy Lord says, "Easy is that for Me, seeing that I created thee aforetime, when thou wast nothing."'

Daryabadi

Allah said: even so! Thy Lord saith: it is unto Me easy, whereas surely I created thee afore when thou wast not aught.

Hilali & Khan

He said: "So (it will be). Your Lord says; It is easy for Me. Certainly I have created you before, when you had been nothing!"

Itani

He said, “It will be so, your Lord says, ‘it is easy for me, and I created you before, when you were nothing.’”

Maududi

He answered: "So shall it be." Your Lord says: "It is easy for Me," and then added: "For beyond doubt, I created you earlier when you were nothing."

Mubarakpuri

He said: "Thus your Lord says: `It is easy for Me. Certainly I have created you before, when you had been nothing!"') [19:8-9]

He said: So (it will be). Thy Lord saith: It is easy for Me, even as I created thee before, when thou wast naught.

He said, ‘So shall it be. Your Lord has said, ‘‘It is simple for Me.’’ Certainly I created you before when you were nothing.’

He replied: 'It shall be so; your Lord says: "It is easy for Me, indeed, I created you before time when you were not a thing."

Saheeh International

[An angel] said, "Thus [it will be]; your Lord says, 'It is easy for Me, for I created you before, while you were nothing.' "

(The angel) said, "This is true, but your Lord says, 'For Me it is easy; I created you when you did not exist".

Shakir

He said: So shall it be, your Lord says: It is easy to Me, and indeed I created you before, when you were nothing.

Wahiduddin Khan

He said, "It will be so! Your Lord says, 'It is easy for Me for I created you when you were nothing before.'"

Yusuf Ali

He said: "So (it will be) thy Lord saith, 'that is easy for Me: I did indeed create thee before, when thou hadst been nothing!'"

Transliteration

Qala kathalika qala rabbuka huwa AAalayya hayyinun waqad khalaqtuka min qablu walam taku shayan

قَالَ رَبِّ ٱجْعَل لِّىٓ ءَايَةً ۚ قَالَ ءَايَتُكَ أَلَّا تُكَلِّمَ ٱلنَّاسَ ثَلَـٰثَ لَيَالٍ سَوِيًّا

19:10 — [Zechariah] said, "My Lord, make for me a sign." He said, "Your sign is that you will not speak to the people for three nights, [being] sound."

فَخَرَجَ عَلَىٰ قَوْمِهِۦ مِنَ ٱلْمِحْرَابِ فَأَوْحَىٰٓ إِلَيْهِمْ أَن سَبِّحُوا۟ بُكْرَةً وَعَشِيًّا

19:11 — So he came out to his people from the prayer chamber and signaled to them to exalt [Allah] in the morning and afternoon.
