Maryam 19:12

قَالَ رَبِّ ٱجْعَل لِّىٓ ءَايَةً ۚ قَالَ ءَايَتُكَ أَلَّا تُكَلِّمَ ٱلنَّاسَ ثَلَـٰثَ لَيَالٍ سَوِيًّا

19:10 — [Zechariah] said, "My Lord, make for me a sign." He said, "Your sign is that you will not speak to the people for three nights, [being] sound."

فَخَرَجَ عَلَىٰ قَوْمِهِۦ مِنَ ٱلْمِحْرَابِ فَأَوْحَىٰٓ إِلَيْهِمْ أَن سَبِّحُوا۟ بُكْرَةً وَعَشِيًّا

19:11 — So he came out to his people from the prayer chamber and signaled to them to exalt [Allah] in the morning and afternoon.

يَـٰيَحْيَىٰ خُذِ ٱلْكِتَـٰبَ بِقُوَّةٍ ۖ وَءَاتَيْنَـٰهُ ٱلْحُكْمَ صَبِيًّا

Ahmed Ali

(We said:) "O John, hold fast to the Book;" and We gave him wisdom right from boyhood,

“O Yahya – hold the Book firmly”; and We gave him Prophethood in his infancy. (Prophet Yahya was only 2 years old at that time.)

'O John, take the Book forcefully'; and We gave him judgment, yet a little child,

O Yahya! se hold fast the book. And We vouchsafed unto him wisdom, while yet a child.

(It was said to his son): "O Yahya (John)! Hold fast the Scripture [the Taurat (Torah)]." And We gave him wisdom while yet a child.

We commanded John, Zachariah's son, to follow the guidance of the Lord with due steadfastness. To John We gave knowledge and wisdom to John during his childhood.

O Yahya! take hold of the Book with strength, and We granted him wisdom while yet a child

To John We said, "Hold fast the Book," and while he was still a child, We bestowed upon him wisdom,

(To his son came the command): "O Yahya! take hold of the Book with might": and We gave him Wisdom even as a youth,

Transliteration

Ya yahya khuthi alkitaba biquwwatin waataynahu alhukma sabiyyan

وَحَنَانًا مِّن لَّدُنَّا وَزَكَوٰةً ۖ وَكَانَ تَقِيًّا

19:13 — And affection from Us and purity, and he was fearing of Allah

وَبَرًّۢا بِوَٰلِدَيْهِ وَلَمْ يَكُن جَبَّارًا عَصِيًّا

19:14 — And dutiful to his parents, and he was not a disobedient tyrant.
