An-Nahl 16:46

بِٱلْبَيِّنَـٰتِ وَٱلزُّبُرِ ۗ وَأَنزَلْنَآ إِلَيْكَ ٱلذِّكْرَ لِتُبَيِّنَ لِلنَّاسِ مَا نُزِّلَ إِلَيْهِمْ وَلَعَلَّهُمْ يَتَفَكَّرُونَ

16:44 — [We sent them] with clear proofs and written ordinances. And We revealed to you the message that you may make clear to the people what was sent down to them and that they might give thought.

أَفَأَمِنَ ٱلَّذِينَ مَكَرُوا۟ ٱلسَّيِّـَٔاتِ أَن يَخْسِفَ ٱللَّهُ بِهِمُ ٱلْأَرْضَ أَوْ يَأْتِيَهُمُ ٱلْعَذَابُ مِنْ حَيْثُ لَا يَشْعُرُونَ

16:45 — Then, do those who have planned evil deeds feel secure that Allah will not cause the earth to swallow them or that the punishment will not come upon them from where they do not perceive?

أَوْ يَأْخُذَهُمْ فِى تَقَلُّبِهِمْ فَمَا هُم بِمُعْجِزِينَ

Ahmed Ali

Or that He will not seize them as they move about, and they will not be able to elude (His grasp);

Or that He may seize them while they move here and there, for they cannot escape?

Arberry

Or that He will not seize them in their going to and fro, and they will not be able to frustrate Him?

Daryabadi

Or, thathe will not take hold of them in their going to and fro! so that they cannot escape.

Hilali & Khan

Or that He may catch them in the midst of their going to and fro (in their jobs), so that there be no escape for them (from Allah's Punishment)?

Itani

Or that He will not seize them during their activities? And they will not be able to prevent it.

Maududi

or that He will not suddenly seize them while they are going about to and fro and they will be unable to frustrate His design,

Or that He may punish them in the midst of their going to and fro (in their livelihood), so that there be no escape for them (from Allah's punishment)

Or that He will not seize them in their going to and fro so that there be no escape for them?

Or that He will not seize them in the midst of their bustle, whereupon they will not be able to frustrate [Him]?

Or, that He will not seize them in their going to and fro, and they will not be able to frustrate Him?

Or that He would not seize them during their [usual] activity, and they could not cause failure?

Are they confident that God will not seize them while they are on a journey? They will not be able to escape from God.

Or that He may not seize them in the course of their journeys, then shall they not escape;

Or that He will not seize them suddenly in their daily activities and they will not be able to frustrate Him?

Yusuf Ali

Or that He may not call them to account in the midst of their goings to and fro, without a chance of their frustrating Him?-

Transliteration

Aw yakhuthahum fee taqallubihim fama hum bimuAAjizeena

أَوْ يَأْخُذَهُمْ عَلَىٰ تَخَوُّفٍ فَإِنَّ رَبَّكُمْ لَرَءُوفٌ رَّحِيمٌ

16:47 — Or that He would not seize them gradually [in a state of dread]? But indeed, your Lord is Kind and Merciful.

أَوَلَمْ يَرَوْا۟ إِلَىٰ مَا خَلَقَ ٱللَّهُ مِن شَىْءٍ يَتَفَيَّؤُا۟ ظِلَـٰلُهُۥ عَنِ ٱلْيَمِينِ وَٱلشَّمَآئِلِ سُجَّدًا لِّلَّهِ وَهُمْ دَٰخِرُونَ

16:48 — Have they not considered what things Allah has created? Their shadows incline to the right and to the left, prostrating to Allah, while they are humble.
