Al-Haqqah 69:5

وَمَآ أَدْرَىٰكَ مَا ٱلْحَآقَّةُ

69:3 — And what can make you know what is the Inevitable Reality?

كَذَّبَتْ ثَمُودُ وَعَادٌۢ بِٱلْقَارِعَةِ

69:4 — Thamud and 'Aad denied the Striking Calamity.

فَأَمَّا ثَمُودُ فَأُهْلِكُوا۟ بِٱلطَّاغِيَةِ

So destroyed were the Thamud by a storm of thunder and lightning;

Transliteration

Faamma thamoodu faohlikoo bialttaghiyati

وَأَمَّا عَادٌ فَأُهْلِكُوا۟ بِرِيحٍ صَرْصَرٍ عَاتِيَةٍ

69:6 — And as for 'Aad, they were destroyed by a screaming, violent wind

سَخَّرَهَا عَلَيْهِمْ سَبْعَ لَيَالٍ وَثَمَـٰنِيَةَ أَيَّامٍ حُسُومًا فَتَرَى ٱلْقَوْمَ فِيهَا صَرْعَىٰ كَأَنَّهُمْ أَعْجَازُ نَخْلٍ خَاوِيَةٍ

69:7 — Which Allah imposed upon them for seven nights and eight days in succession, so you would see the people therein fallen as if they were hollow trunks of palm trees.
