Az-Zumar 39:25

ٱللَّهُ نَزَّلَ أَحْسَنَ ٱلْحَدِيثِ كِتَـٰبًا مُّتَشَـٰبِهًا مَّثَانِىَ تَقْشَعِرُّ مِنْهُ جُلُودُ ٱلَّذِينَ يَخْشَوْنَ رَبَّهُمْ ثُمَّ تَلِينُ جُلُودُهُمْ وَقُلُوبُهُمْ إِلَىٰ ذِكْرِ ٱللَّهِ ۚ ذَٰلِكَ هُدَى ٱللَّهِ يَهْدِى بِهِۦ مَن يَشَآءُ ۚ وَمَن يُضْلِلِ ٱللَّهُ فَمَا لَهُۥ مِنْ هَادٍ

39:23 — Allah has sent down the best statement: a consistent Book wherein is reiteration. The skins shiver therefrom of those who fear their Lord; then their skins and their hearts relax at the remembrance of Allah. That is the guidance of Allah by which He guides whom He wills. And one whom Allah leaves astray - for him there is no guide.

أَفَمَن يَتَّقِى بِوَجْهِهِۦ سُوٓءَ ٱلْعَذَابِ يَوْمَ ٱلْقِيَـٰمَةِ ۚ وَقِيلَ لِلظَّـٰلِمِينَ ذُوقُوا۟ مَا كُنتُمْ تَكْسِبُونَ

39:24 — Then is he who will shield with his face the worst of the punishment on the Day of Resurrection [like one secure from it]? And it will be said to the wrongdoers, "Taste what you used to earn."

كَذَّبَ ٱلَّذِينَ مِن قَبْلِهِمْ فَأَتَىٰهُمُ ٱلْعَذَابُ مِنْ حَيْثُ لَا يَشْعُرُونَ

Ahmed Ali

Those before them had denied, then punishment had overtaken them is from a quarter they did not suspect.

Those before them had denied, therefore the punishment came to them from a place they did not know.

Those that were before them cried lies, then the chastisement came upon them from whence they were not aware;

Daryabadi

Those before them belied, wherefore the torment came on them whence they knew not.

Those before them belied, and so the torment came on them from directions they perceived not.

Itani

Those before them also denied the truth, so the penalty came upon them from where they did not perceive.

Maududi

Their predecessors gave the lie to the Truth and then chastisement came upon them from whence they could not imagine.

Those before them denied, and so the torment came on them from directions they perceived not.

Pickthall

Those before them denied, and so the doom came on them whence they knew not.

Qarai

Those who were before them impugned [the apostles], whereat the punishment overtook them whence they were not aware.

Qaribullah & Darwish

Those who went before them also belied, then Our punishment overtook them from where they were unaware;

Saheeh International

Those before them denied, and punishment came upon them from where they did not perceive.

Sarwar

Those who lived before them had also rejected Our revelations. Thus, the torment struck them and they did not even realize where it came from.

Shakir

Those before them rejected (prophets), therefore there came to them the chastisement from whence they perceived not.

Wahiduddin Khan

Those before them also denied the truth, and the punishment fell on them from where they did not expect.

Yusuf Ali

Those before them (also) rejected (revelation), and so the Punishment came to them from directions they did not perceive.

Transliteration

Kaththaba allatheena min qablihim faatahumu alAAathabu min haythu la yashAAuroona

فَأَذَاقَهُمُ ٱللَّهُ ٱلْخِزْىَ فِى ٱلْحَيَوٰةِ ٱلدُّنْيَا ۖ وَلَعَذَابُ ٱلْـَٔاخِرَةِ أَكْبَرُ ۚ لَوْ كَانُوا۟ يَعْلَمُونَ

39:26 — So Allah made them taste disgrace in worldly life. But the punishment of the Hereafter is greater, if they only knew.

وَلَقَدْ ضَرَبْنَا لِلنَّاسِ فِى هَـٰذَا ٱلْقُرْءَانِ مِن كُلِّ مَثَلٍ لَّعَلَّهُمْ يَتَذَكَّرُونَ

39:27 — And We have certainly presented for the people in this Qur'an from every [kind of] example - that they might remember.
