Al-Anbiya 21:26

أَمِ ٱتَّخَذُوا۟ مِن دُونِهِۦٓ ءَالِهَةً ۖ قُلْ هَاتُوا۟ بُرْهَـٰنَكُمْ ۖ هَـٰذَا ذِكْرُ مَن مَّعِىَ وَذِكْرُ مَن قَبْلِى ۗ بَلْ أَكْثَرُهُمْ لَا يَعْلَمُونَ ٱلْحَقَّ ۖ فَهُم مُّعْرِضُونَ

21:24 — Or have they taken gods besides Him? Say, [O Muhammad], "Produce your proof. This [Qur'an] is the message for those with me and the message of those before me." But most of them do not know the truth, so they are turning away.

وَمَآ أَرْسَلْنَا مِن قَبْلِكَ مِن رَّسُولٍ إِلَّا نُوحِىٓ إِلَيْهِ أَنَّهُۥ لَآ إِلَـٰهَ إِلَّآ أَنَا۠ فَٱعْبُدُونِ

21:25 — And We sent not before you any messenger except that We revealed to him that, "There is no deity except Me, so worship Me."

وَقَالُوا۟ ٱتَّخَذَ ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنُ وَلَدًا ۗ سُبْحَـٰنَهُۥ ۚ بَلْ عِبَادٌ مُّكْرَمُونَ

Ahmed Ali

And yet they say: "Ar-Rahman has begotten a son." Too exalted is He! In fact, those (they call His sons) were His honoured votaries.

Ahmed Raza Khan

And they said, “The Most Gracious has chosen a son – Purity is to Him! In fact they are honourable bondmen.”

Arberry

They say:' 'The All-merciful has taken to Him a son.' Glory be to Him! Nay, but they are honoured servants

Daryabadi

And they say; the Compaionate hath taken a son. Hallowed be He! aye! they are bondmen honoured.

Hilali & Khan

And they say: "The Most Beneficent (Allah) has begotten a son (or children)." Glory to Him! They [those whom they call children of Allah i.e. the angels, 'Iesa (Jesus) son of Maryam (Mary), 'Uzair (Ezra), etc.], are but honoured slaves.

Itani

And they say, “The Most Merciful has taken to himself a son.” Be He glorified; they are but honored servants.

Maududi

They say: "The Most Compassionate Lord has taken to Himself a son." Glory be to Him! Those whom they so designate are only His honoured servants.

Mubarakpuri

And they say: "The Most Gracious has begotten children." Glory to Him! They are but honored servants.

Pickthall

And they say: The Beneficent hath taken unto Himself a son. Be He Glorified! Nay, but (those whom they call sons) are honoured slaves;

Qarai

They say, ‘The All-beneficent has taken offsprings.’ Immaculate is He! Indeed, they are [His] honoured servants.

Qaribullah & Darwish

They say 'The Merciful has taken a son' Exaltations to Him! No, they are only His honored worshipers,

Saheeh International

And they say, "The Most Merciful has taken a son." Exalted is He! Rather, they are [but] honored servants.

Sarwar

They said, "The Beneficent God has given birth to a son. He is too Exalted to give birth to a son." (Those whom they think are God's sons) are only His honorable servants.

Shakir

And they say: The Beneficent Allah has taken to Himself a son. Glory be to Him. Nay! they are honored servants

Wahiduddin Khan

They say, "The All Merciful has taken a son!" Glory be to Him! They are only His honoured servants:

Yusuf Ali

And they say: "(Allah) Most Gracious has begotten offspring." Glory to Him! they are (but) servants raised to honour.

Transliteration

Waqaloo ittakhatha alrrahmanu waladan subhanahu bal AAibadun mukramoona

لَا يَسْبِقُونَهُۥ بِٱلْقَوْلِ وَهُم بِأَمْرِهِۦ يَعْمَلُونَ

21:27 — They cannot precede Him in word, and they act by His command.

يَعْلَمُ مَا بَيْنَ أَيْدِيهِمْ وَمَا خَلْفَهُمْ وَلَا يَشْفَعُونَ إِلَّا لِمَنِ ٱرْتَضَىٰ وَهُم مِّنْ خَشْيَتِهِۦ مُشْفِقُونَ

21:28 — He knows what is [presently] before them and what will be after them, and they cannot intercede except on behalf of one whom He approves. And they, from fear of Him, are apprehensive.
