Sad 38:30

أَمْ نَجْعَلُ ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ وَعَمِلُوا۟ ٱلصَّـٰلِحَـٰتِ كَٱلْمُفْسِدِينَ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ أَمْ نَجْعَلُ ٱلْمُتَّقِينَ كَٱلْفُجَّارِ

38:28 — Or should we treat those who believe and do righteous deeds like corrupters in the land? Or should We treat those who fear Allah like the wicked?

كِتَـٰبٌ أَنزَلْنَـٰهُ إِلَيْكَ مُبَـٰرَكٌ لِّيَدَّبَّرُوٓا۟ ءَايَـٰتِهِۦ وَلِيَتَذَكَّرَ أُو۟لُوا۟ ٱلْأَلْبَـٰبِ

38:29 — [This is] a blessed Book which We have revealed to you, [O Muhammad], that they might reflect upon its verses and that those of understanding would be reminded.

وَوَهَبْنَا لِدَاوُۥدَ سُلَيْمَـٰنَ ۚ نِعْمَ ٱلْعَبْدُ ۖ إِنَّهُۥٓ أَوَّابٌ

Ahmed Ali

We bestowed Solomon on David who was an excellent devotee, for he turned to God in penitence.

Ahmed Raza Khan

And We bestowed Sulaiman to Dawud; what an excellent bondman! He is indeed most inclined.

Arberry

And We gave unto David Solomon; how excellent a servant he was! He was a penitent.

Daryabadi

And We vouchsafed Unto Da-ud Sulaiman. How excellent a bondman! j Verily he was oft-returning.'

Hilali & Khan

And to Dawud (David) We gave Sulaiman (Solomon). How excellent (a) slave! Verily, he was ever oft-returning in repentance (to Us)!

Itani

And We granted David, Solomon, an excellent servant. He was penitent.

Maududi

We bestowed upon David (an illustrious son), Solomon. How excellent a servant (of Ours he was)! Indeed he constantly turned to Us in devotion.

Mubarakpuri

And to Dawud We gave Sulayman. How excellent a servant! Verily, he was ever turning in repentance (to Us)!

Pickthall

And We bestowed on David, Solomon. How excellent a slave! Lo! he was ever turning in repentance (toward Allah).

Qarai

And to David We gave Solomon—what an excellent servant he was! Indeed, he was a penitent [soul].

Qaribullah & Darwish

We gave Solomon to David; and he was an excellent worshiper, he was penitent.

Saheeh International

And to David We gave Solomon. An excellent servant, indeed he was one repeatedly turning back [to Allah].

Sarwar

We granted Solomon to David, a blessed servant of Ours and certainly the most repentant person.

Shakir

And We gave to Dawood Sulaiman, most excellent the servant! Surely he was frequent in returning (to Allah).

Wahiduddin Khan

We gave David Solomon. He was an excellent servant who always turned to God.

Yusuf Ali

To David We gave Solomon (for a son),- How excellent in Our service! Ever did he turn (to Us)!

Transliteration

Wawahabna lidawooda sulaymana niAAma alAAabdu innahu awwabun

إِذْ عُرِضَ عَلَيْهِ بِٱلْعَشِىِّ ٱلصَّـٰفِنَـٰتُ ٱلْجِيَادُ

38:31 — [Mention] when there were exhibited before him in the afternoon the poised [standing] racehorses.

فَقَالَ إِنِّىٓ أَحْبَبْتُ حُبَّ ٱلْخَيْرِ عَن ذِكْرِ رَبِّى حَتَّىٰ تَوَارَتْ بِٱلْحِجَابِ

38:32 — And he said, "Indeed, I gave preference to the love of good [things] over the remembrance of my Lord until the sun disappeared into the curtain [of darkness]."
