Ghafir 40:48

ٱلنَّارُ يُعْرَضُونَ عَلَيْهَا غُدُوًّا وَعَشِيًّا ۖ وَيَوْمَ تَقُومُ ٱلسَّاعَةُ أَدْخِلُوٓا۟ ءَالَ فِرْعَوْنَ أَشَدَّ ٱلْعَذَابِ

40:46 — The Fire, they are exposed to it morning and evening. And the Day the Hour appears [it will be said], "Make the people of Pharaoh enter the severest punishment."

وَإِذْ يَتَحَآجُّونَ فِى ٱلنَّارِ فَيَقُولُ ٱلضُّعَفَـٰٓؤُا۟ لِلَّذِينَ ٱسْتَكْبَرُوٓا۟ إِنَّا كُنَّا لَكُمْ تَبَعًا فَهَلْ أَنتُم مُّغْنُونَ عَنَّا نَصِيبًا مِّنَ ٱلنَّارِ

40:47 — And [mention] when they will argue within the Fire, and the weak will say to those who had been arrogant, "Indeed, we were [only] your followers, so will you relieve us of a share of the Fire?"

قَالَ ٱلَّذِينَ ٱسْتَكْبَرُوٓا۟ إِنَّا كُلٌّ فِيهَآ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ قَدْ حَكَمَ بَيْنَ ٱلْعِبَادِ

Ahmed Ali

The arrogant will answer: "All of us are in it. Surely God has judged between His creatures."

Ahmed Raza Khan

Those who were proud will say, “We are all in the fire – indeed Allah has already passed the judgement among the bondmen.”

Arberry

Then those who waxed proud shall say, 'Every one of us is in it; indeed, God already has passed judgment between His servants.'

Daryabadi

Those who were stiff-necked will say: verily we are all in it; verily Allah hath judged between His bondmen.

Hilali & Khan

Those who were arrogant will say: "We are all (together) in this (Fire)! Verily Allah has judged between (His) slaves!"

Itani

Those who were arrogant will say, “We are all in it; God has judged between the servants.”

Maududi

Those who had waxed proud will reply: “All of us are in it. Allah has already passed His judgement among His servants.”

Mubarakpuri

Those who were arrogant will say: "We are all (together) in this (Fire)! Verily, Allah has judged between (His) servants!"

Pickthall

Those who were proud say: Lo! we are all (together) herein. Lo! Allah hath judged between (His) slaves.

Qarai

The oppressors will say, ‘We are all in it [together]; Allah has judged between [His] servants.’

Qaribullah & Darwish

But those who were proud will reply: 'All of us are in it (Hell). Allah has judged between His worshipers'

Saheeh International

Those who had been arrogant will say, "Indeed, all [of us] are in it. Indeed, Allah has judged between the servants."

Sarwar

The ones who had dominated them will say, "All of us are now in hell. God has already issued His Judgment of His servants (and no one can change this)."

Shakir

Those who were proud shall say: Surely we are all in it: surely Allah has judged between the servants.

Wahiduddin Khan

But those who had been arrogant will say, "We are all in this together. God has judged between His servants."

Yusuf Ali

Those who had been arrogant will say: "We are all in this (Fire)! Truly, Allah has judged between (his) Servants!"

Transliteration

Qala allatheena istakbaroo inna kullun feeha inna Allaha qad hakama bayna alAAibadi

وَقَالَ ٱلَّذِينَ فِى ٱلنَّارِ لِخَزَنَةِ جَهَنَّمَ ٱدْعُوا۟ رَبَّكُمْ يُخَفِّفْ عَنَّا يَوْمًا مِّنَ ٱلْعَذَابِ

40:49 — And those in the Fire will say to the keepers of Hell, "Supplicate your Lord to lighten for us a day from the punishment."

قَالُوٓا۟ أَوَلَمْ تَكُ تَأْتِيكُمْ رُسُلُكُم بِٱلْبَيِّنَـٰتِ ۖ قَالُوا۟ بَلَىٰ ۚ قَالُوا۟ فَٱدْعُوا۟ ۗ وَمَا دُعَـٰٓؤُا۟ ٱلْكَـٰفِرِينَ إِلَّا فِى ضَلَـٰلٍ

40:50 — They will say, "Did there not come to you your messengers with clear proofs?" They will say, "Yes." They will reply, "Then supplicate [yourselves], but the supplication of the disbelievers is not except in error."
